Beautiful weather to start the week comes with a price, as weather forecasters expect strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening, with rainy weather to follow throughout the week.
While the National Weather Service has Greater Cincinnati at an enhanced risk of severe weather, forecasters warn thunderstorms could bring large hail and damaging winds through the evening of April 29.
Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky will see severe weather begin between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., with most of the threat waning around sunset, the weather service said.
Severe weather timeline
Storms are most likely between noon and 8 p.m., according to the weather service.
The most likely onset of storms is 1 to 3 p.m. in the western parts of the region and 3 to 5 p.m. in the eastern parts.
What to expect from storms Tuesday
Storms are likely in the afternoon and evening and could bring damaging straight line winds. Large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the weather service.
It will be breezy outside of storms with wind gusts ranging from 25 mph to 35 mph, the weather service said.
Storm possibility in the week ahead
The storm threat may return on the night of Wednesday, April 30 and linger through Friday, May 1. Showers are also in the forecast on Saturday, May 2 with Sunday, May 3, expected to be clear with a high in the low 70s.
