Lindsay Ell has kicked off a new era of her music with her new chapter – Right on Time, out everywhere now. Ell is set to return to the UK this August.

Multi-award-winning BMG/Stoney Creek Records artist Lindsay Ell has released a new single & video, “Right On Time” – out everywhere now. It’s a joyfully fun anthem where Ell puts a voice to the pressure she feels as a career-focused woman in her 30s, “Right On Time,” available to stream/download worldwide now, is an anthem for anyone who has felt pressured to be something or someone they aren’t, while working on timelines determined by societal norms.

“I think women spend a lot of time feeling like they might miss their ‘time’ in life –their time to be beautiful, to be a mother, to have their dream career, to work their ass off. It’s a constant fear that we might miss the very thing we want by focusing on something else, and I think I’m just done worrying about that,” said Ell. “This is a new dawn for me. Lindsay Ell shares seven-stage video series on one year anniversary of heart theory album.

Chart topping artist Lindsay Ell celebrated the one year anniversary of her critically-acclaimed concept album heart theory on Saturday 14th August. As the incredibly personal record explores the seven stages of grief, Lindsay shared a seven-part video series that explores each stage in the grieving process. The videos were aptly filmed in seven different environments that represent each of the stages and were directed and produced by Scott Scovill at Moo TV using extended reality (XR) technology. The series premiered on CMT, where Lindsay spoke in depth about the videos.

heart theory was written largely by Ell, inspired by a monumental break-up; a major health scare; turning 30; and confronting trauma from her childhood for the first time publicly. The “masterpiece of an album” (American Songwriter) and Ell’s “most empowering album to date” (Rolling Stone), has garnered more than 61 million on-demand streams to date and was nominated for “Country Album of the Year” at Canada’s prestigious Juno Awards. The 12-track project debuted inside the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top Country Albums and Top 5 on the UK Country Album chart and several of the songs have been performed on popular US TV shows including NBC’s TODAY, Tamron Hall Show and FOX & Friends.

“It’s amazing to be able to bring the songs off heart theory to life in a new and innovative way. The capabilities of XR are limitless which made it possible for me to communicate the emotions tied to the seven stages of grief,” said Lindsay Ell. “Releasing them all now is an awesome way to celebrate the anniversary of this album.”

While tackling some of the harder topics, like in the beautiful track ‘make you‘ which delves into her experience as a sexual violence survivor—Ell hoped the project would be a roadmap of comfort and reassurance and a reminder to believe in yourself, especially during tumultuous times. In an effort to extend that sentiment, Ell created the Make You Movement, a charitable fund where she can direct money on an as-needed basis to organisations helping youth and victims of sexual trauma.

Since the pandemic began, Ell nabbed two ACM Awards nominations (“New Female Artist of the Year” and “Vocal Event of the Year” for her No. 1 hit ‘What Happens In a Small Town’ with Brantley Gilbert), earned her first Gold record in Canada, won a Canadian Country Music Award and is currently out on the road with Blake Shelton on his Friends and Heroes Tour.

Jimmie Allen joins The Ty Bentli Show on Apple Music Country to talk about collaborating with Lindsay Ell, choosing the different styles and collaborations on his Bettie James Gold Edition, and what outside influences he allows into his creative vision. Listen to the full interview here.

Jimmie Allen on his song “Tequila Talkin” with Lindsay Ell:

“…when people pitched me their songs, like the one with Lindsay Ell, Tequila Talkin’, as soon as I heard it, I was like, “Hmm. I want to do something different. But I don’t want to do this with a pop artist, I want to do this with a country artist that has a little pop edge to it.”

So I just reached out to Lindsay. And this was in the last minute, three months before the record came out, I reached out to Lindsay, I was like, “Yo, let’s do a song together. I think I got the song.” Sent it to her and she said, “I’m in.” So I said, “Let’s go.” But this song, at first I just told her she was going to sing. I wanted her vocals. I said nothing about guitar playing, I just wanted to focus her focus on dope vocal delivery. So she came to the studio and sang her ass off. And then I asked her, it was a couple days later, I said, “Hey, you want to put some guitar towards the end of the song?” Because I wanted to have Lindsey Ell, the singer first, the vocalist. Then I wanted Lindsay Ell, the guitar player, afterwards, to where it was more candid, to where the song is more about… Because she’s more than just a guitar player, man. People when they see Lindsay Ell, think Lindsay Ell, they think, “Oh, she’s a girl guitar player.” No, Lindsay is a badass vocalist, she’s a great artist, great singer, great writer. And so I’m just glad we finally… Because we’ve been talking for years about doing something together. I’m glad we did, because I’m sure when people saw Jimmie Allen and Lindsay Ell, Tequila Talkin’, they thought it was a ballad country song about somebody in a bar, all that other stuff. But it’s a fun song. Actually, it’s a forbidden fruit type song, but it feels good.”

Jimmie Allen on working with the Oak Ridge Boys:

“Oak Ridge Boys was my grandma’s favorite group of all time. And I’ve been a fan, shucks, I’ve been a fan of the Oak Ridge boys forever. So the crazy thing, William Lee Golden from the Oak Ridge Boys, his son is my tour bus driver. So that’s how I was able to make that connection. So he just reached out to his dad, and he’s like, “Hey, Jimmie wants to do a song with y’all.”I wanted them to have their own moment, man. They’re such a legendary group, I didn’t want the Oak Ridge Boys to get lost in the commotion of the song. I was like, “I’m going to introduce them at the end, and it’s going to be a moment.” And I had a couple of people, it’s like, “Well he should not have Oak Ridge Boys on there because they’re older and people might not play it or country radio might not play it.” I said, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I never make music country radio. I never write music for blogs. I write music and create music I like.” Then we go from there, and then we pitch that one to country radio. But I said, “When you start letting outside distractions influence how you create music, the creation has been tampered. It’s diluted.”

Following a career making year for Pearce, following the release of her new collection 29 and an invitation to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, Carly Pearce has now announced a new show “My 3 Minutes Radio” on Apple Music Country. On the show, Pearce honours and shares the musical journey of others as well by linking the common threads that bind country artists together. Featuring a wide range of guests, Pearce will highlight the “breaking point” in their careers—the moment that they knew they’d go from being struggling musicians to becoming full-time professionals. Pearce shares, “Every artist plays shows writes music and comes through your country radio station but every single artist has a different version of how they got to where they are now. I wanted to bring you those stories and bring them to life to show you how different 3 minutes and one song can look.”

On the premiere episode airing this Wednesday, July 14 at 5pm PT, Carly Pearce sits down with some of her closest friends in country music, Russell Dickerson, Lee Brice, and Lindsay Ell as they share their breakthrough moments in the music industry. Carly’s previous tour mate, Russell Dickerson, shares his experience overcoming being dropped from a writing deal, while Lindsay Ell opens up about her life changing collab with Brantley Gilbert. Lee Brice closes the show with the couch surfing spring break that ultimately changed his life.

Lee Brice shares his story of his 3 minutes

“I had a friend of a friend in my hometown, their cousin was working for Alan Jackson’s manager, right? And they were like, “Hey, you should come visit Nashville.” I decided instead of spring break in college to go to the beach or whatever, I said, “I’m going to go visit Nashville for spring break.” So I visited Nashville, and she said, “You can stay with me.” So this girl, who was just a friend of mine, and her roommates all were living together, and so I took my buddy and we just slept on the couch and they let us stay there for the week. We didn’t have any money or really anything to do, so we just kind of walked around and I sat on the couch and played music. It’s really weird to say that I came for a spring break and I’m on the couch playing music, and one of the roommates was a songwriter. She was actually Reba’s niece. She was like, “Who are you and why are you on my couch?” I’m like, “Man, Mary Alice let us stay here.” And she was like, “Okay, well, then what were you just singing?” I said, “I was just singing something I wrote.” And she says, “Play me something else.”

So I played her a couple of songs and she had a publishing deal at the time and she took me over to her publisher the next day. Her publisher at the time, Lisa Hensley, said… I mean, I was in there for two hours playing her song, and she said, “You have to meet Doug.” She was about to get married to Doug Johnson, who became not only my producer for years, who took me to Curb Records, who wrote with me for the whole summer, just me and him. So really it was kind of coming for that spring break, and he told me during that spring break, he said, “Man,” he said, “your dad is probably not going to want to hear this,” he’s like, “but you need to be here now.” And I was like, “Well, I’ve got like a year left at Clemson.” He’s like, “I know, but you need to be here now.” And he’s like, “In whatever you choose or decide to do,” he said, “I just want you to know I will be here with you, for you, and help you and be a part of anything forever.” I was blown away that this guy who ran record labels, ANR, amazing songwriter, he was an artist. He’s known all the facets of the music business. He said, “This is what you’re supposed to be doing.” So that summer I moved here for the summer, and then I knew then, I was like, “This is where I’m going to be.” So to me, it was that. That was my foot in the door immediately. It was weird.”

Russell Dickerson talks about getting dropped from a writing deal and how he bounced back

“Literally as we’re getting back from our honeymoon I get a call that says I’m getting dropped from my song writing deal, which that was our income, the only income we had. That completely stopped and that was a real career defining moment for me, was like, “All right, well I can’t rely on this. I can’t rely on anything else but myself.” That was kind of the beginning of this new era of Russell Dickerson, was my songwriting. I just got kind of like a chip on my shoulder in a way like, “I’ve got to start being Russell Dickerson,” and that was a huge flip for me.

So we wrote Yours January of 2014 and it went number one January 2018. It took four years. Again, I had this song. I had Yours and took it to every label in Nashville, no after no after no. We were like, “All right, you know what? We’re just going to shoot a music video for this.” No money, no budget, no nothing. My wife is a photographer videographer, as you know, and we went out to this back road in Nashville, started walking down this road and just singing the song. Literally that was all that we had for this video. This storm rolls in. There’s lightning flashing behind me. It starts pouring down rain. It makes me emotional just to talk about because this is … and to this day, people are like, “That’s the best music video you ever had.” This music video was the jumping point of this song and we just put it up on YouTube and it was 10,000, 100,000, million, it just started going. We’re like, “What?” It just took off like a wildfire, this one song. Then people start calling. And they’re like, “Oh no, no no, yeah, oh yeah, no, this song is a hit. This song’s definitely a hit.” But it really was the music video that my wife shot for literally gas money of driving up and down this road like eight times.”

Lindsey Ell tells Carly Pearce about her 3 minutes and the song “What Happens in a Small Town”

“I feel like I’ve had so many different instances of little glimpses of three minutes, and a part of me feels like I still haven’t found my three minutes, but if I had to really pare it down to one moment, I remember getting sent what happens in a small town. Brantley had already recorded it, and Scott Borchetta reached out to John Loba and was like, hey, we really think Lindsey would be perfect for this song, and she could play an epic solo. Her and Brantley both had this rock thing. And so I remember getting the email and opening it up and it honestly took less than three minutes for me to listen to the song and be like, that’s a hit, and I called my manager and I was like, yeah. We need to do this. It was that moment that I’m like, oh, okay, these are the three minutes that’s going to change the game. It is so crazy how it really takes only three minutes to be that magic thing, that 10,000 hours to get us to the three minutes, to be the overnight success, but it truly is that.”

The explosive track, written by Pope, Jake Rose and Lindsey Rimes, beautifully expresses the desire to peek into someone’s life who is no longer part of your own.

Today, Cassadee took to social media to share the exciting news that both Lindsay Ell and Karen Fairchild would be joining her on the track: Instagram / Twitter / Facebook. Fans who pre-save “What The Stars See” will automatically be entered to win their very own star named after them. The winner will be announced the same day as the track’s release (May 7th.)

“I was inspired to write ‘What The Stars See’ after sitting outside one night looking up at the stars, curious what their perspective might be looking down on us,” said Pope. “It made me think back to times in my life when I had just come out of a relationship but still felt so connected to the other person. I imagined having the superpower to be among the stars and observe, from their perspective, an ex moving on with their life (or not).”

Cassadee will be releasing the music video for “What The Stars See” exclusively with PEOPLE.com on May 14th. The video, directed by Ed Pryor, is a colourful take on the voyeuristic sensibilities of famed sci-fi action film, Blade Runner, and includes special appearances by both Karen Fairchild and Lindsay Ell.

Cassadee’s powerhouse vocals come alive stronger with the masterful production of Nick Wheeler (All-American Rejects) and Karen Fairchild (Little Big Town) – role models who represent the best from the eras of Cassadee’s own musical journey. Working with these two different artists created a genre-blending synergy that fully encapsulates Cassadee’s sound.
