Smithfield have released their third EP – NEW TOWN – that marks a new chapter for the female-male duo Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith. Giving a perfect glimpse into the next chapter of their musical journey. Listen to the new EP here.

SmithField have already made a name for themselves since the release of their stunning single ‘Hey Whiskey,’ now they are back kicking off a new chapter in their music with their third EP – NEW TOWN out everywhere now. Of the EP, the duo say, ‘After nearly a decade, we find ourselves so very proud of the music we have made and thankful to all of our SmithField fans for their support…NEW TOWN turns a new page with a new sound for SmithField.  Come join us as we write the rest of the story.” What a story it is, across the breadth of the six songs co-written by SmithField’s Jennifer and Trey in collaboration with hitmaking songwriters Emily Landis, Trannie Anderson, Ian Christian, Mark Irwin, Adam Wood, Bobby Hamrick, and Emily Falvey, the duo take the listener on a journey of making something special feel new again – a relationship, job, friendship or town. It’s the story of fresh perspective and positions the duo as a dynamic force in the country industry – creating a woven narrative of highs and lows that is immensely compelling.

With SmithFeld’s musical style portraying a coffee conversation with both of them equally contributing to the “conversation,” they include songs “Something Sexy,” which is an ode to some of Country’s sexiest songs, “Burning Wings,” about knowing a relationship has taken a turn for the worse, but still trying to make it work through the fire, “Sunday Best,” which is about acceptance and loving someone or something through their flaws and scars, and “I’ll Never Stop,” about loving and losing someone, but never losing the love. And finally, the EP wraps with the highly relatable “We’ll Figure It Out,” which was written a few weeks before the pandemic and acted as a guiding light for the duo through the unpredictability that the last year brought. The project in its entirety is immensely charming and compelling – opening an exciting new chapter for the duo and what the duo exhibit more than any other is a sense of control, both over their own vocals and harmonies and in the narrative they are creating for their music. These are artists who know who they are and the story they want to tell.

Smithfield have announced that they will release their new EP – New Town on the 16th June. Pre-save and pre-add the EP here.

Smithfield

SmithField have announced the forthcoming release of their new EP, NEW TOWN, out June 16. Comprised of six original tracks, SmithField is ready to show 2021 what the modern female-male Country duo sounds like. There hasn’t been a female-male duo break out in Nashville in a decade and this pair has the talent and drive to make it happen.

“We have been a duo for a decade and truly feel this new music, the stories we tell, the harmony, the heart, and uniqueness of our vocal blend we bring to the table with it will be a game changer for us,” says SmithField. “We have never put out music that has felt more genuine to who SmithField is and what we are all about than this. You can’t listen to one song on here and not know it’s a SmithField song. We are ready to break the glass ceiling that has been absent in our genre for quite some time and we are so excited to finally have it out in the world. This is just the beginning.”

NEW TOWN is about those refreshing experiences in life – whether it be love, a new job or a new friend – that make a town feel like it has a brand-new spark. Even if you’ve been there your entire life, the new experience brings fresh perspective and sunshine to places that didn’t radiate before. The EP is symbolic in that it is a new chapter for SmithField. Each track makes Nashville feel like a “new town” for them as they fall more in love with the city and their love for music as each year passes. NEW TOWN EP includes three unreleased tracks in addition their three previously released tracks – “We’ll Figure It Out,” “Sunday Best” and “Something Sexy,” that Sounds Like Nashville says “… the rising team features smooth harmonies and a connection you can feel in each lyric — and now they’re using it to tribute some of the steamiest songs in country history.”

SmithField have an incredible ability to make their listeners feel like they’re sitting down for coffee with them and captivating them with both sides of a story. The EP comes at a fitting time as the world is starting to slowly reopen, with coffee conversations and happy hours finding a place on the calendar. The world is starting to feel anew after the uncertainty of the past year and a half and Nashville is starting to feel like a “new town.”

This EP follows the release of the “Something Sexy” CMT music video premiere last week along with the announce of their headlining show at the mainstay Nashville venue 3rd and Lindsley. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased HERE. The duo also made it’s “Something Sexy” radio debut over the weekend after being selected for the iHeart Women of Country playlist.

Smithfield have shared the new video for their single ‘Something Sexy’ through CMT.

Country duo SmithField – comprised of Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith – have premiered the music video for their burning-hot new song, “Something Sexy,” across CMT, CMT Music and CMT.com.

Bringing sexy back, “SmithField is heating things up with the release of their brand new single, ‘Something Sexy” (Country Now). With the set inspired by the power couple Tim McGraw & Faith Hill’s “It’s Your Love” music video, the “Something Sexy” video was shot in East Nashville and directed by Quinton Cook. Featuring performance vignettes of SmithField, the music video illuminates a care-free ambience and soft smiles while following a couple fully enthralled in their young love.

With their clever songwriting on full display, the track was penned by SmithField alongside Aaron Wood, and produced by Derek Wells and Wood. Weaving a tapestry of sultry Country classics with some of the genre’s steamiest hits by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and more, the duo sets the mood just right for this sweet yet spicy music video.

“Something Sexy” follows their latest offering “Sunday Best,” which has been praised as “a simple declaration of love, delivered by two artists with the chemistry to revive country’s long-running tradition of the male-female duo,” (Rolling Stone). Both songs preview the pair’s forthcoming EP, for which they co-penned every track, and is due out this year.

Next up, SmithField will return to the road, set to take their first-rate harmonies and stellar live show to Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA on May 22. Also just announced, the duo will be performing live at the highly regarded Nashville venue 3rd and Lindsley on June 17. Tickets on sale THIS FRIDAY.

We review the new single – Something Sexy – by Smithfield out now that offers the latest look at their forthcoming EP out this year.

Something Sexy Smithfield

Country duo SmithField is turning up the heat with their slow-burning new single “Something Sexy,” available everywhere now. Paying homage to the romantic Country jams that “set the mood just right,” the simmering track namechecks some of the genre’s steamiest hits by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and more. Listen to the sultry track here.

“Country music has produced some of the most iconic love songs, and ‘Something Sexy’ is a nod to several of our favorites by some of the genre’s greatest artists,” shares SmithField. “The idea was born from us sitting down one day with our co-writer and saying, ‘We need to write something sexy today.’ It was a spur of the moment conversation that turned into a song we are so proud and excited to release as our next single!”

Showcasing their adept songwriting, “Something Sexy” is penned by the duo’s Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith alongside Adam Wood, and produced by Derek Wells and Wood. Tapping into the song’s romantic lyrics, the official music video is set to premiere across all CMT platforms on May 12.

Next up, SmithField will return to the road, set to take their first-rate harmonies and stellar live show to Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA on May 22.

Emerging country duo Smithfield have shared the new acoustic video for their latest release – Sunday Best, following support from Billboard, Rolling Stone and more.

Fast-upcoming duo Smithfield have shared a brand-new acoustic video to accompany their latest release ‘Sunday Best.’ Praised by Billboard as a “sweet, harmony-filled” tune in their weekly “First Country” roundup of new music, the song was also chosen as one of Rolling Stone’s picks for best new Country releases, lauding “It’s a simple declaration of love, delivered by two artists with the chemistry to revive country’s long-running tradition of the male-female duo.” Penned by the duo’s Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith with Trannie Anderson and Ian Christian, and produced by ACM Award-winner Derek Wells and Adam Wood, “Sunday Best” nods to the societal expectations SmithField experienced while growing up in rural Texas and offers a powerful showcase of the duo’s stunning trademark harmonies, trading back and forth lead vocals.

SmithField will return to the Grand Ole Opry stage on April 2, after previously making more than 30 appearances. More new music is on the horizon for the pair, with their anticipated third EP slated for release this year.
