Demonstrating just why he is deserving of headliner status – and frankly leaving us questioning why he has not won the CMA Entertainer of the Year yet, Thomas Rhett delivered an energetic and mesmerising performance at the O2 London for C2C Festival.

Thomas Rhett is a born entertainer. It is perhaps easy to forget just how many hits he has delivered over the course of his career, given his humility and the way he carries himself (even recording a message for his children live on stage at the arena), yet at the O2 in London during C2C Festival, Rhett showcased just why he is so deserving of his headliner status. From his opener, ‘Craving You,’ Rhett captivated his audience, holding his fans in the palm of his hand for the entirety of his set until the last bars of ‘What’s Your Country Song?’ The true mark of his talent – his ability to energise the crowds in the larger numbers (T-Shirt / Ain’t Nothing That A Beer Can’t Fix), yet seemingly shrink the crowd and provide an intimate moments on quieter songs (Slow Down Summer / Marry Me.

Across the course of 90 minutes, Rhett performed hit after hit, rounding out his sound with some stronger guitar work – from steel to acoustic – and some quieter piano moments. Rhett hardly missed a beat as he pivoted between emotions, moods and sounds, thriving on the responsive audience that were hanging on his every word. Easy highlights were provided on his huge cover of ‘She Had Me at Heads Carolina,’ that he co-wrote with Ashley Gorley (recorded by Cole Swindell), and his pivots into some of his earlier hits, including ‘Crash and Burn’ and ‘Get Me Some of That,’ before an acoustic performance of a new track ‘Feeling Country,’ delivered with ease. Without a doubt though, one of the most emotional moments was on his love letter to his wife Lauren – ‘Angels,’ a gorgeously, authentic and powerful moment. Mid-set, Thomas Rhett was joined by friend Niall Horan for a rendition of his track ‘Slow Hands,’ where (apologies to any 1D fans), Rhett dominated the stage and Horan’s star paled in comparison.

Friday showed the extent to which Thomas Rhett is revered by his UK fans, turning the O2 into a honkytonk dive bar party. What an astonishing show and credit to the festival for knowing their fanbase.

UK country fans are loyal. If a US artist shows their dedication to the UK fanbase at the start of the career and keeps coming back, they will be ride and die fans for that artist. Lainey Wilson has laid out a roadmap for other artists, much like Kip Moore and Cam. That dedication alone – to say nothing of her CMA wins and successes – earned Lainey her spot on the main stage (it’s a travesty she wasn’t second on the bill). Even despite losing her voice earlier in the week, Wilson delivered one of the most exhilarating performances of the weekend, with a hefty part of the setlist taken from tracks from her most recent album, Bell Bottom Country.

Lainey kicked off her set though with ‘LA,’ taken from her debut album – a gorgeous introduction to her amped up set, where her studio albums were kicked up a notch with the help of her band. It was a mark of her true showmanship that Lainey did not miss a beat throughout the set, even hitting the notes of her hit track ‘Heart Like A Truck.’ Wilson, more than anything, exhibited her vocal chops – even despite her illness – her signature twang married with an absolutely huge vocal that is simply astonishing in its live rendition.

It was a true marker for her UK fanbase of how far Lainey has come since performing at Bush Hall, to become one of the most exciting country stars of the moment. It seems inevitable that soon it will be her name topping the bill at C2C and we can’t wait for that set.

Ahead of her debut appearance as a solo artist at C2C 2023, Paris Adams has released her debut single ‘Gold,’ out everywhere now.

Paris Adams, founder member, lead vocalist and main songwriter of The Adelaides, has launched her solo career with the release of her single ‘Gold.’ ‘Gold’ was recorded in Nashville with Grammy winning producer Femke Weidema, and Paris will follow it by performing a slot on each of the three days of the prestigious C2C Festival at the O2 in March. The track is the powerful result of a year writing in Nashville and in the UK – showcasing her immense vocal range and her ability to craft an effortless country song. ‘Gold’ represents nothing less than the emergence of a major new solo artist in the international Country scene, as the confirmation of her C2C appearances attest. Building on what is already an incredible track record for such a young artist, this single is just the first sign of what is yet to come. With ‘Gold’, Paris Adams is truly setting the standard for what UK country can and should be.

Whilst Paris made her live debut as a solo artist on the Caitlyn Smith tour of October 2022, she is a seasoned performer. The Adelaides played at British Summertime in London’s Hyde Park two years running as support to Michael Bublé (2018) and Celine Dion (2019). The Adelaides, who sadly fell victim to the enforced hiatus over COVID, had even received an unprecedented invitation to perform a repeat slot at CMA Fest in Nashville in 2020; having already appeared in 2019. The offer from Country’s biggest worldwide showcase came after the band had established a following with a series of special guest appearances with the likes of Charles Esten, who personally requested them to perform with him on two major British tours including a sell-out date at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Paris has also featured on tours with Kiefer Sutherland, Catherine McGrath, Ashley Campbell & Mo Pitney, Andy Brown and Key West. Festival appearances include Ramblin’ Man, Cornbury, Nashville Meets London, Black Deer and the Long Road Festival.

With another number one under his belt with ‘What My World Spins Around,’ Jordan Davis will this week release his sophomore album – Bluebird Days. Pre-save the album here.

Ahead of his performance as part of this year’s C2C 2023 Festival, Jordan Davis will this week release his second studio album – Bluebird Days – a captivating record that shows a snapshot of Davis, as he is now in his life and career, a movement forward from his debut album Home State, released back in 2018.

Davis has always had an ease about him when he steps into easy-breezy, summer jams, but he truly hits his stride when these are met with lyrical twists, giving them a needed spice. So, on the record’s opening track, Davis hits the gas pedal on ‘Damn Good Time,’ a charming track about enjoying the lighter side of life. Elsewhere, Davis offers bigger, heavier production on his upbeat party tracks. So, on the funk-laden ‘One Beer In Front Of The Other,’ Davis easily trips around his lyrics in an intoxicating track about drinking to forget – a theme he returns to on ‘Whiskey Weak’ – a sultrier and lazier groove of a track (‘She stole the bright out the neon / Got me running up these tabs… Her “Goodbye” ruined everything / Her leaving even made the whiskey weak.’) On the former though, Davis’ lyricism is on point – simple words to fit complicated and twisted rhythms. ‘The only way to make the moving on train go / Is putting one beer in front of the other / Linkin’ drink rings into another / ‘Cause your goodbye kinda hurt like a mother / But I’m thinking maybe that I’m on the upper.’ More than anything else, the track really is a damn good time.

Davis’ sweet spot has been refined over the years, honed to tracks with real depth and a moral story – couched in charming production and lyricism. So, ‘Money Isn’t Real’ and ‘Buy Dirt’ celebrate the importance of real things in life and not losing sight of your roots. On the former, Davis realises this when seeing empty chairs at a rich man’s funeral that makes him realise that his jealousy was unfounded. ‘Money isn’t real, can’t call you like your momma does / It can’t make you old friends, it can’t make you young again… It’s just paper and some ink / It’ll never ask you how you feelWhen it comes to happiness, money isn’t real.’ It’s a meaningful tune about what is important in life and Davis vocal – both sonically and lyrically – cuts through. Similarly, ‘Sunday Saints’ is another mellow track about living large and full, yet still retaining faith. ‘Yeah, we’re hell-bent on calling heaven home when He calls our name / We’re the don’t-stop believers, the somewhere-between-ers / The Saturday sinners and the Sunday saints.’ It’s a gorgeous track – sampling ‘When The Saints Go Marching In’ – with ease and following the line of ‘Church in a Chevy’ shines a light on the unconventional ways to celebrate faith.

Nowhere is this poignancy and intimacy more refined on Bluebird Days than on ‘Fishing Spot’ – a gorgeous track (don’t be put off by the title) – about missing his late grandfather and visiting him at their place they shared together – their fishing spot. ‘You always knew how to listen and just what to say / And that’s what brought me out here today / Instead of standing at your stone, I’m sittin’ on your rock / Catching up with you at your fishin’ spot.’ It’s sentimental, without falling into cliche and there’s real emotional power in the lyrics that peels back and reveals a little more on every line.

Of course, there’s a good amount of ink spilled on the album on old-fashioned country love songs, but again Davis is a masterful enough songwriter to make these feel both unique and personal. So, ‘What My World Spins Around’ is a rock-edged and raucous track about an immense love ‘I don’t even know what it is, but now that I’ve found it / I can’t imagine me living without it’ and ‘Next Thing You Know’ is as charming as they get – a track about the undeniability of love. ‘Next thing you know / You’re savin’ money like never before / Just to spend it all at a jewelry store / Gettin’ down on one knee on her mama’s porch / Just prayin’ she don’t say, “No” / Next thing you know.’

Where Bluebird Days evolves yet further and shows Davis’ growth as an artist is in his increasing vulnerability and intimacy with his audience. On ‘What I Wouldn’t Do’ and ‘Short Fuse’ he narrates his own failings as a human and his regrets in life. ‘Bluebird Days’ though is an easy stand-out – a melancholic, soaring track about his parents’ divorce. ‘Two hearts fell in love / And two hearts grew apart / They went their separate ways / And our bluebird days went dark.’ It’s a gorgeous and sweet piano-laced ballad that doesn’t feel over done, despite its poignancy and intimacy. It is perhaps this track that best shows Davis’ depth as a songwriter, where touches are enough to paint a broad picture and allowing listeners to paint the broad brushstrokes with their own experiences.

Sonically, the album doesn’t evolve hugely from what we have heard from Davis previously – albeit vocally he transforms on the gruffer tones of ‘No Time Soon’, but lyrically there is an increase in maturity and depth on the record that gives it real power. Davis packs emotional heft and punches where it is needed and couches the rest of the record in clever, intricate lyrics that are immense fun to unpack and listen to. A truly solid record that shows Davis’ staying power as an artist.

Ahead of his performance at C2C Festival, Matt Stell has dived headfirst into a new era for his music, with the release of his new six-track EP – One of Us – out everywhere today.

Ahead of his performance at C2C Festival next month, Matt Stell has released his brand new EP – One of Us. Following the release of his previous EP – Better Than That – on which Stell appeared to have found his lane in country, this new EP shows an artist in full command of his own artistry, pushing that gear up into full force and digging deeper into his American roots.

Much of the record is born for an arena stage. So, ‘One of Us’ is a full throttle searing country rock track about inclusivity and celebrating your blue collar roots, ‘One of us got a chain if you get stuck / One of us got a cooler full of cold Busch / In the back of his truck / And if that sounds like you / You might be one of us.’ Elsewhere, fiery ‘This One’s Gonna Hurt’ offers a rip-roaring, rock-tinged hell raiser of a track about celebrating today, despite the hangover’s of tomorrow. ‘There’s proof in the bottle / That this ones gonna hurt like a buck from a bronco / But tonight, we’ll live it up ‘cause tomorrow / we’ll be laying low, no we ain’t gotta go to work (hell naw).’ It’s riotously fun and is bound for an arena performance (adding this to our C2C wishlist…) Of course, there’s other slick tracks to add to the mix – ‘Shut The Truck Up’ is an easy flowing track, where Stell tries to erase an ex-lover’s memory ingrained in the interior of his truck. ‘All my playlists, I can’t play em / From the A to the F to the XM dial / Every memory, every mile it reminds me of us / And I wish I could just shut the truck up.’ It’s an easy tripping melody.

Stell, though, has been known for his powerful ballads, and he does not disappoint on the EP – ‘Man Made’ is a gorgeous lilting track. ‘Behind any guy doing anything right is a woman’s work at hand / If a man made anything, it’s ’cause a woman made that man.’ Stell’s honeyed trademark vocals soar here, in this creatively meaningful and tender ballad about his gratitude for the women in his life, an idea followed through on ‘Roots In This Ground’ – where lesser artists would allow this to settle into corny territory, Stell’s delivery elevates the track – a sonorous ballad about settling down with the right girl. ‘‘Cause the pretty girls gonna put the settle in your down / And roots in this ground.’

However, it is the final track (‘Somewhere Over The Radio’) is the only track on the record not co-produced by Stell that shows his growth as an artist. It is very different in feel – a beautiful piano ballad narrating his need to leave town and chase music. ‘Somewhere over the radio way out past the county line / There’s a place where you wake up dreaming in the broad daylight / You know I got no choice but to chase those songs in the clouds / I know it sounds crazy but I can hear ‘em now / And I promise you girl when you’re riding around back home / You’ll hear me somewhere over the radio.’ With hardly any instrumentation to hide behind, the track shows the true power and musicality of Stell’s vocal and its masterfully delivered to showcase the full breadth and range of Stell as an artist. Chest-thrumping hell-raisers may be what you go to Stell’s concerts for, but doubtless these moments will be the ones that stick with you – just like in their studio versions.

It’s the final countdown to C2C 2023 and the festival have announced their final wave of artists with stage artists confirmed including Jolie Harvey, Willie Jones, Amanda Shires and more.

The wait is almost over!  Country to Country; Europe’s biggest country music festival is back for it’s 10-year celebration at The O2, London.

With just a few weeks to g, Country to Country is pleased to announce the final wave of incredible artists appearing at this year’s festival.  Featuring multiple performances per day by artists from all over the UK, Europe and the US, C2C once more provides an incredible opportunity for fans of country to discover and support new artists.

Country to Country will officially kick off at midday on Friday when the Town Square opens, and the first artists take to the festival stages, with doors on Saturday and Sunday opening at 10.00am. The Town Square has some exciting changes for 2023, with a brand-new dedicated performance space and bar – The Barrelhouse at The Town Square. All the favourite C2C stalls will return, so fans can enjoy a variety of market traders, food stands, sponsor activations, cocktails, craft beers and more. New programming will give festival goers the chance to party in the Town Square even longer – look out for more news on that soon.

All visitors to The O2 can access the free stages which are Big Entrance Stage, Icon Stage and The Wayside (formerly the Garden Stage). C2C ticket holders will also have access to BBC Radio 2 Stage (at Indigo at The O2) and The Saloon (All Bar One). The latter will be presented by Apple Music’s global live-streaming radio station Apple Music Country by day and will feature exciting interviews hosted by The Country Chart Show’s Nada and country entertainment between sets.
